It took eternity to get back home from work due to the traffic. The intoxicating air and the noise pollution exhausted me. The speed of the city shifted me out of balance which I aimed to regain by going on a vacation.

I have been practicing yoga for the last 6 years and also teach classes once a a while. The ambiance for the practice is very important for me. I began to look for a perfect place for holiday where I can meditate, practice yoga, enjoy quality vegetarian food and clean unpolluted air.

It is amazing how the universe always provides us what we need. One afternoon, during lunch break while I was browsing through Facebook. I came across a photo album of a friend who recently went to Chiangmai for a Yoga retreat holiday. She posted some wonderful pictures of her practicing yoga in a sala on top of the hill with breath-taking view of mountains and organic farm in the background. Seeing The Spa Resort Chiangmai as the location in the album name, I went to their website to check on upcoming events.

Shortly after discovering that what the yoga retreat program consisted of. I will learn yoga philosophy, pranayama, mantra meditation, anatomy and yogic diet while practicing the asana twice a day. The resort has a well-known restaurant for vegetarian meals and raw food. There are these neat facilities 2 swimming pools, the Bamboo Spa, Thai Herbal Steam, Far Sauna. I signed up for the retreat and booked my ticket right on that day.

The flight from Bangkok to Chiangmai did not take long. Within one hour, I made a journey from big city to the land full of nature up north. Arriving safely to the resort, I wandered out for a walk. This is one of the day I will always remember, the perfect moment with picturesque view of mountains with rice paddies where everything looked so stunning and alive.

During this short retreat, I also enjoyed spending my afternoons relaxing by the pool as well as getting pampered with Thai massage, taking a steam or Sauna and enjoying the fantastic food. The Yoga Classes are taught by two lovely Thai instructors with years of experience, they were great.

By the end of the 3 night stay, I felt like a new me, the better version of myself. The entire experience is so transforming, both physically, emotionally and spiritually. I hope next time I can spend more time, maybe even take a Training course.
